Synesthesia 2024 ─ in progress
The scenes in these paintings feel familiar, yet somehow just beyond reach. A child reachesforward, taking part in a quiet exchange; a woman runs toward something unseen—perhaps athreat, or maybe an internal pull. Another figure stands still, almost blending into the landaround them. Tourists move nearby, seemingly relaxed, caught in their own sense of time.Between these figures, color and detail flash into focus—a burst of yellow, a blue umbrellamelting into the sky, hands stained red, a traffic light hanging in mid-air. Each element isordinary on its own, but together they create a layered, almost musical field of feeling.Theseworks go beyond typical travel scenes. They trace a deeper journey—through place, feeling, and perception. The viewer becomes part of the scene, immersed in its rhythm. Emotionssurface through contrast and flow: tension, stillness, wonder. What unfolds is a kind of innerlandscape, where personal moments meet the weight of the world.
In today’s world of constant movement and noise, Synesthesia becomes a way of tuning in.Sound turns into color, a glance becomes rhythm, and places seem to fold into each other. These images carry the quiet tension of modern travel—the desire to connect and understand, along with the quiet knowledge that our presence always leaves a mark. Rather than asking usto analyze what we’re seeing, the works invite us to feel our way through them—to notice howwe’re affected, and what that says about the world we move through.
